The Scottish duo Adventures In Stereo is a pop band full of heartfelt lyrics swirling on top of '60s wonderlust, for tweaked harmonies and nostalgia haven't frolicked so freely since the melodic beauty of Lush and Saint Etienne. Ex-Primal Scream founder Jim Beattie and birdlike songstress Judith Boyle mold shiny stylings found on their second release, Monomania.

Boyle may not be Petula Clark, but her sweet vocal moods are so angelic -- songs like "International" and "Ghosts" are old-fashioned tunes that could have withstood the days of '60s pop melodrama. "This Day" is jaunty with Boyle's shoegazing chorus chiming along quick rhythms. "Birds" twinges with Blur-like bass drops and percussion shimmies and shakes. There isn't any wanking off on a guitar or raunchy frontman snarling. Adventures In Stereo is too kind.
