After the dissolution of the Louvin Brothers in 1963, Ira Louvin went on to record two albums for Capitol Records. The sum of these recordings have been combined on The Complete Recordings of Ira Louvin, which showcases the smooth traditional country stylings of the older, less volatile brother. This collection is a fair sample of the country-pop style popular in the late '50s and early '60s through Louvin's familiar voice, with a smattering of old-time religion and Appalachian yodeling. Unfortunately, these last recordings fail to display any of the excellent mandolin picking that Louvin exhibited in the previous decades and really lacks the spark and bittersweet charm of the music performed with brother Charlie.
