In 2000, {@Koch} reissued {$Asleep at the Wheel}'s 1973 debut, {^Comin' Right at Ya}, and 1975's {^Texas Gold}, the band's third album, as a CD two-fer. While the package misses {$Asleep}'s 1974 album for {@Epic} (different label, different rights; the two here are from {@EMI} and {@Capitol}, respectively), these two albums nevertheless make good companion pieces, since the first record shows a band with enormous potential and the second finds a band reaching its potential. This is the sound of a band finding its voice and riding with it, and both albums are among the very best records the group ever did, which makes this an essential -- perhaps the essential -- {$Asleep at the Wheel} release. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
