Released in 1998, Lilys Better Can't Make Your Life Better LP was a re-mixed, re-mastered, and re-assembled version of the original 1996 release. Upon its release in 1996, this album pulled a perfect Kinks style garage pop sound from the sixties and dropped it directly into the mid-nineties. Although these sounds were somewhat familiar, nobody did the sixties garage pop revival thing any better than this. Strings and a variety of other instruments were added to a number of the songs, and the overall sound of the album was dramatically affected. Along with the sonic changes was a slightly altered tracklisting. The Sammael Sea, arguably the least powerful song on the original recording was scrapped for the much stronger More Than That is Deserved and a surprisingly unnecessary cover of The Apples in Stereo song Touch the Water. A single was released for the re-mixed version of A Nanny in Manhattan, but a second single for Touch the Water was scrapped last minute. This version of the album is essential only for the Lilys listener who demands a complete collection of recordings.
