Yet another volume in this series of high-quality collections of ultra-obscure garage rock, Move It! upholds the Teenage Shutdown tradition of top-shelf obscurities presented in surprisingly strong sound quality. Move It! is subtitled Frantic Frat-Stomp Fracas!" and that tells the tale quite well: The 19 cuts on board lean toward beer-fueled R&B covers and up-tempo good-time goofs rather than high-impact teenage angst, though cuts like "True Love - Heartaches" by Bobby Runnel's Faux Pas and "Don't Be Mean" by the Creations (no relation to those paintermen from England) suggest these guys would occasionally put down their suds long enough to complain about girls. There's plenty of fine, stompin' rock & roll here, especially the revved-up "Crazy World" by Peck's Bad Boys, "On the Road Again" by reverb addicts the Deadlys, the Chevron's Five's bizarre comic book tribute "Niat Pac Lavram" (read it backwards), and the Twilighters' rockabilly tinged "Move It." Elsewhere, the Buccaneers' take on "Oop Poo Pah Doo" is so goofy it approaches genius, the Galaxies' "Gitchy-Gitchy-Goo" is the greatest record the Kingsmen never made, and "Lollipop" by the Royal Coachmen" and the Customs Five's "Let's Go in '69" close out the set with a the sort of double-entendre tunes no frat party would be complete without. And as usual for this series, the mastering is impressively clean, capturing these rare sides in all their Silvertone-powered glory, while the liner notes pass along the known facts with style.
