This is Kohei Nishikawa's second CD in this series. Similarly to volume one, he offers contemporary works by U.S., Chinese, and Japanese composers, as well as a traditional solo piece for Nohkan. The instrumentation in this second CD is more diverse, with an emphasis on contemporary works. Among the original works, there are a duet for shinobue and flute and a solo piece for shinobue by U.S. composer David Loeb. Two other pieces are by Japanese composer Kenjirou Urata, one for violin and percussion and the other for shinobue and percussion. The two pieces by Chinese composer Yan-Qiao Wang are for shinobue, violin, cello, piano, and percussion. Kohei Nishikawa is an accomplished musician.
