On Lapis Lazuli, Syrian-born singer Abed Azrié offers his own songs and music written on poems by Arabian poets, the last song being from an anonymous Andalousian one. Although Azrié mixes traditional instruments with modern ones, the character of his music openly expresses his Arabic roots, yet, a personal one. Azrié has a deep voice which surprises at a first listening and his music is languorous, but not monotonous. There is something meditative in this most enthralling voice and songs. A most inspiring discovery.
