Formed during Britain's great ska revival craze of the early '80s, The Selecter were, perhaps, the best of the bunch. Led by lead singer Pauline Black's strong and energetic vocals, the band specialized in speeding up classic Jamaican rocksteady tunes into ska territory, then driving them home with some of the funkiest rhythms this side of Kingston.
