The Jakatta project is one in a long smorgasbord of aliases for Dave Lee (Joey Negro, Doug Willis, Sunburst Band, Pasha). "American Dream," provisionally titled "American Booty," takes the Eastern tinkle of the American Beauty score and irrigates it with Lee's familiar series of disco-funk house techniques and erratically compliant drops of mood. The remix mini-collection that followed five months later wasn't as wasteful. Lucid and DJ Commie added some much-needed amperage to the tune, welding the hollow emotionalism of the film's music to harder beats and proper club dips and peaks.
