Critic's Review

3.5 out of 5 stars Chris Nickson, All Music Guide
This compilation certainly boasts many of the big names of flamenco guitar, from the idolized Manolo Sanlucar to Andrés Batista, Rafael Canizares, and Paco de Lucia. As a sampler, it certainly brings in the weightiest talents and gives full-on exposure to hardcore flamenco playing, from the traditional "Soleares Populares" to "Entre Dos Aguas," de Lucia's surprising '70s hit. If anything, there's a danger that this can be an overload of talent and a surfeit of the ecstatic moments called duende. There's never anything to fault in the performances from anyone, and the moments when the jaw drops at the technique and imagination on display soon become countless. If you want an introduction to flamenco guitar, this is the place to begin.
