Alessandro is a fine guitarist with a rockish tone but a jazz improviser's sensitivity. He also sings pretty well on a few more pop-oriented selections, particularly "Tristezza," though the emphasis is on the instrumentals. In addition to five originals, Alessandro explores "Tristezza," a lazy rendition of "Afro Blue," Keith Jarrett's obscure but catchy "Lucky Southern," and a jazz version of the rock piece "Siberian Khatru." "Show of Life" is a change of pace, for it has Alessandro sounding closer to Wes Montgomery and George Benson in his playing.
