Both the track order and remastering on this collection are superb, but that alone isn't basis for an unqualified recommendation. There are significant songs missing, but at 40 tracks this is the best budget sampler of Rodgers' music available, if one judges strictly on the music. The liner notes provide only a skeletal view of his accomplishments, but by drawing attention to lesser-known performances, Standing on the Corner is an invigorating listen, even for those who have already digested other samplers. There is one major gripe to be directed at compilers who continue to disregard the value of his terrific first single, "The Soldier's Sweetheart," but since the market has yet to see an affordable, truly definitive Rodgers overview, this comes as highly recommended as any other that is available.
