Cano Estremera's third album for Combo Records may be his most "untraditional" to date. With the advent of the Sergio George-style that somewhat dominated the salsa scene of the '90s, Estremera decided to follow suit along those trendy lines. Strangely, that is no matter; Estremera's formidable improvisational style is good enough to counteract any newer shadings. There are plenty of homeruns in this production: "Cheque Certificado," "Aguita Pura," "Señora," "Amor en Silencio," "La Salsa Está Buena," and "De Que Te Vale" are all first-rate. It may seem unnecessary, but Estremera has found an interesting way to reinvent himself, as he has demonstrated in this outing. A must for Estremera fans.
