This split 7" was released by the German label Die Stadt on the occasion of a live performance at the Lagerhaus in Bremen. A limited edition of 400 copies, it surprises by the quality of the material -- usually you don't release such good tracks on an obscure lathe cut. Illusion of Safety's "Heartmath" begins with a knock-'em-dead big-band cue thrown into the digital echo chamber and left to decay for a couple of minutes before a drone settles in and tiny shards of the original sample reappear, hitting listeners with increasing intensity until the needle gets stuck in a locked groove. Thomas Köner's "Intro/Col de Vence" is a much more gentle affair, an atmospheric breeze that requires your full attention in order not to dissipate into thin air, unnoticed.
