Live in Hollywood/Absolutely Live by

This two-CD set repackages the Doors' stellar Absolutely Live album with WEA's Live in Hollywood: Highlights from the Aquarius Theatre Performances, featuring the full 16 cuts from the original issue of the latter disc. The two performances, recorded a year apart in 1969 and 1970, offer solid -- even electrifying -- portraits of the band at its peak. Morrison is the obvious attraction, but the band itself moves through blues, psychedelic rock, and even a kind of perverse musical theater with the entire "Celebration of the Lizard" from Absolutely Live. The band's readings of "Back Door Man" and "You Make Me Real" from the Aquarius Theater and "Who Do You Love?" and "Five to One" from Absolutely Live are also knockouts of pure intensity and growling, ferocious musical power. Unlike other repackages, this one is a must for fans of the band who don't have the original releases already.
