Released in 1990, Garfunkel: Best Of is a good summary of Art Garfunkel's solo career, even if it doesn't feature all of his charting hits. For instance, "I Shall Sing" and "Second Avenue," two Top 40 songs from his first album, are missing, which may irritate some casual fans (as well as completists). Still, this winds up being a very good overview of his solo years, since it touches on the rest of his hits -- such as "I Only Have Eyes for You," "Break Away," "(What A) Wonderful World," and "A Heart in New York" -- are all here, along with a couple of Jimmy Webb songs. Since this hits collection winds up showing the weaknesses of Garfunkel's solo material, it's a representative cross-section of his career, but it derives its greatest strength by just being a solid singles sampler.
