David Doucet both expanded and narrowed his scope on this release. He decided to concentrate on guitar and incorporate it into a traditional Cajun setting; at the same time, he used wide-ranging band Beausoleil and recruited bluegrass great Josh Graves on dobro and bassist Josh Stewart. The results were gratifying; Doucet's guitar playing was unpredictable, edgy and crisp, while Beausoleil, Graves and Stewart made fine partners on 13 thoroughly Cajun tracks, right down to the French lyrics, waltz and two-step arrangements, and accordion/fiddle backing fortified by mandolin/dobro/bass. ~ Ron Wynn, All Music Guide [-] Collapse
