Great American Bootleg Tape by David Massengill!

Critic's Review

5.0 out of 5 stars William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide
Massengill assembled this tape himself, using tracks recorded for the Stash Records Cornelia Street collection, The Fast Folk Musical Magazine, and the video of the Folk City 25th-Anniversary concert. The result is the single most impressive folk-based song collection of the decade. Massengill's lyrical facility is the most astounding to appear since that of Elvis Costello -- he can be wickedly funny and deeply touching in the same line, and his imagination seems unlimited. By rights, this should be on all lists of the best albums of the 80s. (Write to David Massengill, 179 E. 3rd St., Apt. 20, NY, NY 10009.)
