A musical parodist, Lane appropriates earlier musical forms (the swing era and Elvis Presley are two frequent targets) and incorporates twisted lyrics into his otherwise faithful sonic recreations. On Car Radio Jerome, his reaches his peak with "The French Toast Man," a wicked send-up of children's music; for the most part, however, his work pales in comparison to deconstructionists like Ween.
