Taiwan's eclectic downtempo collective 78 BPM features a varying roster of DJs, musicians, and other performers, including DJ/turntablist/producer Mr78, singers Keith and Selena, guitarist Su, bassist Bao, fire dancers Heike and A-Boa, and video manipulator Flo. 78 BPM's music mixes Western electronic music ideas such as downtempo, dub, and trip-hop with a melodic approach inspired by traditional Taiwanese music. The collective released their debut album, Red Moon -- a concept album about a journey through a dark valley -- in 2002 on the Silent Agreement imprint, which Mr78, Su, and Flo also help run. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
