8-11 & Ph.D.

8-11 has had dreams of being an entertainer since his first talent show during his senior year in high school. He formed a group in the early 90s’, called Young Hoods, when gangster rap was still in its infancy. He recorded an album under his own label, “ BirdMine Records “, titled Just like Dat. Although it did okay locally he did not push it to the full extent because of music and group differences. He later left the group and went solo while searching for the right combination of music and skills. Ph.D. has envisioned performing his music since the early age of 14. He also formed a group in the early 90s’, called 2 Aces and a Joker, which got a lot of recognition via shows and radio spots, but the group never made it to album production. They later disband. 8-11 & Ph.D. met each other through common acquaintances and decided to form a group now known as 8-11 and Ph.D. Together they made their freshman CD called One Shot One Kill. This CD was well crafted and unique. It allowed both rappers to show off their individual thoughts, 8-11 with hardships and trouble, Ph.D. with faith and brotherhood. Now they are together again for their sophomore album entitled Line of Site…. Which has already been nominated best rap album for the 2006 calendar year, by the “FW Weekly”. This album really shows the versatility of the group. With maturity of life under their belts this album is guaranteed to be a hit. 8-11(the true) and Ph.D. (the real) have come together to get the crowds jumping and the clubs pumping. They bring to you the gritty, urban, realness of the Fort Worth streets with a style that can't be classified with anyone else. 8-11 & Ph.D. are on a mission to take rap to another level.
