Bassam Saba and April Centrone are coming to Greece to record with Alekos K. Vretos for his new project. Bassam is a splendid and world renowned Nay and Flute player and met with Alekos during the 2nd Arabic Music Retreat, where he was functioning as an instructor. April is a world renowned musician percussionist and she is currently is Basam Saba's band. With this kind of force Alekos K. Vretos is bound to have a lift off in delivering the best of his music. The CD will be released early 2008 (date to be announced). Too much effort ,love and care has been put into Alekos' project by all the musicians, tech support and administration because it's mainly a friends project than anything else. Taking our time makes the difference in music.

PREPARING A NEW ALBUM FOR 2009 !!

Alekos K. Vretos is currently preparing his new album. The

actual recording was complete by February 2009,

and the album is going to be released some time after that.

The recordings will take place under the

supervision of the Great Master Simon Shaheen. Great musicians that have

trusted the talent of the young virtuoso Alekos Vretos, will

team up for this creation of good music. Master Shaheen is

bound to push Vretos to his limits, given that he is his

teacher and knows how to motivate him. Improvisation will

be the main axis for this new work by Vretos. He will try to

challenge all that think traditionallyof the oud. Funk, Jazz,

R&B and other modern elements will interact with the sound

of the traditional instruments and not the melodies (like the

previous album "YUNAN"). Alekos K. Vretos will try to

take the oud to the next level.
