...And Oceans assembled in 1995 out of scattered components from Finland's black metal scene, and made its official debut with 1998's Dynamic Gallery of Thoughts (Season of Mist); The Symmetry of 1 - The Circle of O followed a year later. ...And Oceans jumped to Century Media for 2001's A.M. G.O.D.: Allotropic/Metamorphic-Genesis of Dimorphism, and got the word out by supporting Marduk, Vader, and Mortician on a European tour. Cypher followed in June 2002; it was the best example yet of the group's ambitiously bleak mix of grind, thrash, symphonic, and ambient textures.
