Apartment Three

Formed in the mid-'90s, this band from the Boston suburbs was created by the core trio of vocalist Dan Macmillan, drummer Francis Castagnetti Jr., and guitarist Nik Chisholm. After creating a jam rock and pop style that resembled Phish, Hootie & the Blowfish, as well as Vertical Horizon, Apartment Three released its debut album, Many Miles to Go, on High Rise Records. Touring throughout the New England area resulted in a growing fan base and credible sales. In 1998, the band rounded out its sound by adding Bill Egan on bass. The following year, Apartment Three added electric guitar player Jeff Bellucci. The band released its second album, Smiles From the Ashtray, in 1999 and received praise for its upbeat and uplifting feel. But Bellucci decided to leave the group. Apartment Three opted for keyboard player Geoff Nari as his replacement. In 2001, the group released its third album, Bruised & Patient, on High Rise Records. The group appears to have stripped down to its original trio for the album. Apartment Three continues to tour the Northeast as well as Canada. The band performed at the 2002 North by Northeast Festival in Toronto. ~ Jason MacNeil, All Music Guide
