Apes In The Aviary, the dynamic duo of Cronstadt Carver and Jerome Levitch, have shocked listeners with a entourage of folky pop, odd phrases and/or noises, and a knack to be funny and intellectual at the same time. AiTa started back in the dawn of time, between 1999 and 2000. Their first album, Live! (At My Mom's House) is made up of quirky-improvised tunes. Their second album, aptly titled Sophomoric Slump, found AiTa experimenting with sounds, with Jerome's vocals playing a larger part. Carver skirted singing in some songs, relying primarily on making expressionistic sounds with his mouth. They are currently working on their third album, Giving the Gift of Music (When It Isn't Ours to Give), planned for release in January 2007.
