farqual88's Album Review for Out of Exile

""
Audioslave's second album, although in my opinion not as good as their first, still gives a good step in the right direction with a solid follow-up to their first album masterpiece.
Out of Exile is definitely a step in the right direction for this great modern rock band. I'll go right ahead and mention that 'Doesn't Remind Me' is one of the greatest rocks songs of 2005. It combines the acoustic with the heavy, and throws in an awesome Tom Morello solo towards the end which blew my mind when I first heard it. Other than 'Doesn't Remind Me', Out of Exile has some great songs, the fast paced 'Man Or Animal', with great drum work by Brad Wilk, standing out along with 'Out of Exile' and 'Be Yourself', which for me is a bit of a rogue liking as I'm into heavy music, but I guess its the lyrics which really set this apart. The Worm is also has an awesomely funky opening and a nice little guitar piece from guitar God Tom Morello.

However 12 songs are about the right length for a band which is going from a hard rock sound to incorporate more and more blues and funk into their music. Certain songs on this album are weak, but its carried forward by the great ones that i've already mentioned. 'Heavens Dead' and 'Dandelion' I didn't really enjoy, and would have liked to have seen them stronger, but every song can't be great in an album. Also its starting to get a little bit too same-y, some songs having similar sounds.

Nevertheless, apart from these fallbacks, Audioslave are in my opinion the best modern rock band, and deserve more recognition than they have got. Out of Exile is a great second album for the band, and a good step forward in perfecting their unique sound.

Album Review for Audioslave - Audioslave
After the breaking up of one of the greatest bands of all time (Rage Against the Machine), a new band is formed. Completely different sound, a completely different vocalist... but it still rocks hard!

For Audioslave's third release, the supergroup appears to be somewhat tighter, but fails to really tread any new ground. It's a decent listen with some good tracks on it, but there are some flops as well.
