Barbara Donald
One of the top female trumpeters of all-time, Barbara Donald has a powerful and explorative style that has been showcased on records far too little. She is best-known for playing with altoist Sonny Simmons (her husband at the time) during 1963-1972. She recorded a couple of impressive efforts for Cadence in the early '80s, but little has been heard from her since. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
