Bettye LaVette Is Hot Again!

After reading All Music Guide's piece on Bettye LaVette, I decided to bring everyone up-to-date. Since 2000, Miss LaVette has made a steady and very successful "comeback." She is appearing in top venues around the world, including the USA, is getting unbelievable critical acclaim from music critics regarding her astonishing stage performances and she recently received a distinguised W. C. Handy Award for her album, "A Woman Like Me" as "best comeback album of the year."

Miss LaVette also appears in the documentary, "Blues Divas," along side other soul legends like Mavis Staples, Ann Peebles, Denise LaSalle, Odetta, Irma Thomas, etc.

Her appearances at the Chicago Blues Festival prompted one writer to proclaim her as "the surprise hit of the entire festival." Likewise, she wowed them at the Monterey Jazz Fest and many other music fests throught the world.

Recently, she made a spectacular appearance on Late Night with David Letterman, with other TV appearances being lined up.
