After starting out as a pretty straightforward late-'90s harsh metal band reminiscent of Fear Factory or Crowbar, Cleveland, OH's curiously named Biastfear embarked upon a far more unusual and original path with their attempts to blend heavy metal with hip-hop. Featuring vocalist T.J. Bruce, guitarist Ron Brinker, bassist Rob Schultz, and drummer David Breda, 1998's The Ties That Bind subscribed to the former direction, while its year 2000 follow-up, All Angels Scream, introduced both their new sonic ambitions and vocalist Crystal Moore. Nowhere near as bizarre as one might expect, this combination of unrelated styles is smoothed out by Moore's equal ease with clean melodic singing and rapping. ~ Ed Rivadavia, All Music Guide
