Big, Big Furnace
The indie rock/emo pop outfit Big Big Furnace from Madison, WI, features members Matthew Loos (guitar, vocals), Josh Erdman (guitar), Danny Doepke (bass), and Tim Benn (drums). Formed in the late '90s, the quartet has issued a pair of releases, a self-titled five-track EP in 2000 and 2001's full-length Soundtrack to a Midwestern Winter. In addition, Big Big Furnace has seen some tracks appear on three editions of the internationally distributed BMX bicycle videozine Props, while their composition "Tanky Porter" has been heard on Bluetorch TV (the Fox Sports Network). The group is known for high-energy, fun live shows, and has opened for such acclaimed outfits as the Promise Ring and Dexter Freebish. However, on June 19, 2001, Big Big Furnace disbanded when Benn decided to focus more on his home life. ~ Greg Prato, All Music Guide
