Brigitte Handley

Brigitte Handley's unique vocal qualities have been described as deep, dark, and sultry. She has the amazing ability to get the juke joint jumping as strongly as any rockin' daddy in the rockabilly scene. On-stage is where she shines, her performance goes from a sweet-and-sassy style to being downright mean and evil. She unleashes on her audience a driving raw energy that is synonymous with what is called rockabilly music. It is very unusual and unique to see a girl singing rockabilly, which lends Brigitte Handley her lone-prairie attraction. She laces each performance with the passion and enthusiasm that only she possesses. Some have stated that her style could be described as a female Eddie Cochran or Gene Vincent, and that she can belt out some mean phrases à la Janis Joplin. She also likes to throw in a bit of Patsy Cline into her act to satisfy her country urges. She is equally as comfortable with a heavier neo sound or country flavor, which makes for an interesting and entertaining show. In 1999, Brigitte Handley along with Troy Dunham, Slappin' Angus, and Stu, released a debut EP, entitled Red Hot & Blue, to rave reviews. With only four songs on the EP, it left listeners wanting more from her and asking if a full CD is in the works. Brigitte Handley will be here to stay for some time if the listening public has anything to say about it. As one fan shouted recently at a live venue, "Brigitte Handley is HOT!" Her material is certainly best described as Red Hot & Blue, along with a sound that is refreshing and new. ~ Larry Belanger, All Music Guide
