Butterfly Jones
Butterfly Jones signals the return of former Dada members Michael Gurley (vocals, guitar) and Phil Leavitt (drums). After a career that lasted a total of four albums, Dada broke up in the late '90s, but the two former members immediately began laying down tracks with producer Scott Gordon. A demo found its way to Vanguard Records, who promptly signed the band up. Similar in sound to such late-'90s pop rockers as Fastball and Third Eye Blind, Butterfly Jones also includes former Soul Coughing member Mark de Gli Antoni (keyboards, samples) and former Mary's Danish vocalist Julie Ritter. 2001 saw the release of the quartet's debut recording, Napalm Springs, which spawned the single "Anywhere but Now." ~ Greg Prato, All Music Guide
