Challenger

When Milemarker guitarist Dave Laney starting bringing heavier, punkier songs to his band's practice sessions, it became obvious to the rest of the band that it just wasn't working. Milemarker was more open-ended and Laney's new music was all about the three-minute rock song. Milemarker bassist Al Burian enjoyed the diversion and suggested he and Laney work on the tunes outside of the band. They started working with drummer Timothy Remis and soon the collection of songs turned into the repertoire of the new band Challenger. Laney and Burian don't consider it a side project as much as a new band that could coexist with Milemarker. Jade Tree released their debut, Give People What They Want in Lethal Doses, in early 2004. ~ David Jeffries, All Music Guide
