Crimson Moon

Proving that black metal need not the cold chill of Scandinavia to flourish, the San Diego-based duo of Vampir Scorpios (vocals, bass, drums) and Nocturnal Overlord (guitar, synths, drum programming) formed Crimson Moon in 1994. Taking most of their cues from black metal's primordial purveyors Bathory, Mayhem, and Darkthrone, Crimson Moon recorded two demos in preparation for their debut album, To Embrace the Vampyric Blood, which, after some delay, was eventually released in late 1996. Several additional demos have followed, and in 2003 the band (now also featuring keyboard player Khaija Ausar) contributed material to the Casting Eternal Fires, Vol. 1 compilation. ~ Ed Rivadavia, All Music Guide
