Dad's Gone Bad
DAD’S GONE BAD is a full-tilt mid-life crisis rock ‘n’ roll band which puts its own high-energy spin on covers of an ever-changing array of songs from early rock, late ‘60s power trio rock, blues, punk, soul, dance, alt.country and contemporary alternative music, and has begun to develop its own original songs. Although its members are successful and respected professionals in the worlds of business and law, DAD’S GONE BAD is as hard driving and entertainingly ironic as any punk-powered band of youthful miscreants. They imbue covers of music from diverse groups and eras with their own energy, grit, enthusiasm, and mid-life angst. DGB features the vocal stylings of Joe Ogiony, the lead guitar artistry of Bob Cody, Ted Hoagland on Rhythm guitar, the bottom-line bass of Michael Graham, the ivory-tickling genius of Dave Shelton, and the dead-on driving beat of drummer Andy Ratts. Recently, the Dad's were joined by the EASY CATHOLIC GIRLS: Jan Hartwell and Sue Pelletier, lending a hormonal shift to the singing and broadening the range of songs and genres. The band formed after several of its members met and played together as the pit band for a Parent-Teacher Benefit show at their children’s middle school. They found that their musical tastes, histories and collective unconscious were similar and that they shared a love for playing rock loud and with feeling. After months in Melanie's basement, they hit the local block party scene, but have since played at venues in California, as well as the Subterranean and Heartland Cafe in Chicago, Tommy Nevins in Evanston, and several North Shore venues. DAD’S GONE BAD is living proof that a group of dads can rock just as hard as bands whose collective age is less than that of any one DAD’S GONE BAD member.
