During the *Hangnagerfete* in Iphofen in July 2004 Anja, Alex and Sven (Alaska Fire) decided to start a musical collaboration and to found a new band. Only in September 2004 they found the right musicians they had been looking for. And so first of all Frank of Double U See joined the band as their new solo guitarist. Some time later Klaus of Green Hell, with whom they already had stayed in touch before, followed him as a drummer. In the middle of October the post of the bass player was taken by Benjamin of Alaska Fire and so the band was complete. First the band thought about calling themselves *Chane*, but then they had to realize that this name was already protected by copyright. After more than one week of pondering Frank had the idea to call the band *Darken* what means *sich verdunkeln/dunkel machen* in German. As every man has a certain dark part we decided to take this name and DARKEN were born.
