DHG
'Supervillian Outcast' is DØDHEIMSGARD's (now known as DHG) follow-up to the critically-acclaimed 1999 release '666 International,' a sonically-charged rollercoaster ride of avant-garde chaos and intense black metal drive and atmosphere. The album, which ended up on many critics' Top 10 lists, helped inject the black metal music scene with something unique and groundbreaking the year of its release. While most bands would be affected by such a lengthy downtime between releases, DHG' insatiable drive to reach new plateaus with their powerful aural assaults has kept the momentum going strong allowing 'Supervillain Outcast' to serve up pure black metal anarchy. ---------------------------------------------- A more traditional (read: raw, furious, and often unintelligible) Norwegian black metal band, Dodheimsgard featured guitarist/vocalist Aldrahn, bassist/backing vocalist Fenriz, and drummer Vicotnik in its original incarnation. (The band's name translates to something similar to "kingdom of death" or "world of specters.") 1995 saw the release of the band's debut album, Kronet Til Konge, after which Fenriz departed; former Aura Noir member Apollyon and ex-Emperor bassist Alver joined up for the band's second release, Monumental Possession. Both albums were originally recorded for Malicious and were reissued in the U.S. in 1999 by Century Media. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide
