Originally formed as a side project in 1994, Disengage took a bow to the likes of Black Sabbath and Black Flag to bring their own hint of dark, a-tuned guitar riffs to their college town of Kent, Ohio. After a handful of demos, some opening slots for Unsane and Filter and an East Coast tour, Disengage moved onto settle down in Cleveland and release their first EP Exhaust in 1996. With Cambodia Recordings backing up Disengage, the band soon followed with their first album Teeth, Heart and Tail in 1997. ~ Mike DaRonco, All Music Guide
