"Endless Summer" by D.V. Nobles, released June 2007
Song list:
Endless Summer Nights - Instrumental intro for the "Endless Summer" CD.
Endless Summer - It's really sort of a tribute to Roy Orbison. I love his music and of course his phenomenal voice. I wanted to write something that captured that style--a dreamy magical world where you either lose everything or gain it...or both.
Along the Line - I had this melody I came up with and have been playing it for years...the lyrics finally came to me. I always new I wanted it to be a haunting tune.
What I Feel is Right (Live) - It's a fake live. I added the applause for effect, but sounds kind of nice that way. This is a song I wrote many years ago and has a lot of meaning for me. It is kind of unusual for me because the words and music came to me at the same time, but also I combined strumming, note picking and chords that I didn't know existed at the time.
Heart's Done Stole Again - By far the most popular of the tracks so far. That's good news because it's one of my latest songs. So I hope that means I'm continuing to improve my sound. I had this blues song I wrote back in '91 and recently started playing around with a blues style melody to go with it. It really fell together from there (completed it in a day!). Cuts into my fingers to get those notes, but lots of fun. I'm wanting to do more blues style in the future.
Always in my Heart - The people you meet in this world touch you in different ways. There are those close to me that I believe will always be in my heart. This song is about being there for those you hold dear no matter how far apart. Due to the strumming pattern I used in this song, I could not play it in time with the drum beat I had planned, so I did a very big no-no and actually added the drums in AFTER recording the song, so consequently the timing is all off.
She Gives me Love - Two chords, 7 minutes and 49 seconds
If We Could Talk - This song started brewing around in my head because of my belief that many times, people can get along where our governments fail to. Late one night, I couldn't sleep because this song begged at me to be written. So I got up, and the lyrics came spilling out almost faster than I could right them down. I like to think that the little girl in this song, the victim, was the one demanding that it be written.
some background info...
Why do you make music? Same reason as all the others, always been interested in it, have some sort of artistic need to express it. I make music for my own personal interest and hope someone out there enjoys some of it.
What instruments do you play? I've never had any training, so anything I play is self-taught. I feel like I do have some natural ability, but usually I just keep doing it until it sounds right enough for me, sometimes it is a struggle, sometimes it is easy. That being said, I try my hand at acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards, piano, drums.
Any plans on going professional? No. I've never had any ambitions to try to go professional...if at some point my music got "commercial" enough to catch the ear of a record exec...sure, why turn down money? I may also self-market a CD in the future if I feel that's the way to go. However, I think song-writing is one of my best talents...I've written a lot, so the most likely thing that would happen professionally is getting paid for song rights.
Why is your music so varied? I like all kinds of music, so I end up trying to make all kinds. I know it's not good for listeners because they may like one song and listen to the other and be disappointed. On the other hand, at some point I should have enough "similar" songs to group together.
About the tracks....
You - Probably the first 'serious' song I put down on paper back in '84 and then to some music some years after that.

Finding St. John - (moved to www.mp3.com/singularity) My older brother used to play a tune that was inspired from the Airwolf TV series. Somehow I either learned it from him or picked up on it. This is my rendition of it. Those of you familiar with the series knows that the main character (Stringfellow Hawke) had an ongoing quest to find his brother (St. John) who was POW in Vietnam.
Somehow my brother managed to create a theme that didn't copy the Airwolf theme, but captured the feeling of the show. I hope I captured some of that here.
Tranquility - (moved to www.mp3.com/singularity)When Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were on the moon, they got a call from the President of the United States. With this instrumental, I tried to capture some of the wonder of what it must be like to explore the unknown.
Love Will Surround Us-This song is my first real collaboration effort. Bass: Stephen Vincent, Keyboard: Marco de Boer, Drums: Scotsman. Vocals, acoustic & electric rythm, electric lead, timpani, music and lyrics by D.V. Nobles.
