Eden James’ single, Never Setting Sun, stole the Number One spot from pop heavyweight Robbie Williams in the Greek Top 40. His debut album of the same name not only gained him chart success and critical acclaim, but also won him the ‘Best New Talent’ award at Australia’s Sunnie Awards. This year Eden James returns with Electric Charge, a digital release by the band's own label EJE. Eden co-produced the album with Antti Uusimaki (Brian Eno, Cornershop) whose avant-garde style complemented Eden’s pop appreciation. The result is an album built on old-school musical landscapes and timeless songwriting. “Together we achieved what we wanted. A pop record dressed in classic rock and indie stylings,” said James. The new album has dawned a new era for the musician, trading in his solo artist spurs in favour of an indie-rock band baring his name. Irish-born Richard ‘Shark-e’ Murray was the first member to join Eden James in the role of bassist. Shark-e is not only prized for his flawless playing and musicianship, but for his one-word quips and love of Australian soap operas. Next to be recruited was rhythm guitarist Simon Hall. Hailing from the north of England, Simon befriended Eden by gaining him VIP access to an exclusive playmate’s birthday party in London. Amidst the frivolity the pair were quick to discover their mutual imaginary friend - Tom Foolery, who suggested they invite the girl playing bongos to come and play for them. Fortunately, she didn’t work out. Eden said his biggest challenge while forming the band was finding the right drummer. So when Simon Turner turned up sharing the band’s vision and work ethic, you can imagine his relief. Since joining the band in 2007 the Milton Keynes drummer has been in his element unleashing his inner John Bonham. The band’s only born-and-bred Londoner is lead guitarist Matt James. Matt is the most recent member to sign on and did so because of his admiration for Eden’s vocal talent and songwriting. Matt’s passion for the album is visible in his onstage guitar-chic and awe-inspiring performances, which have taken the band’s stage show to a new level. Eden James’ debut album Never Setting Sun launched him as an international artist, and his performances in Japan, United Kingdom, France, Norway, Greece, Poland and Australia have resulted in an ever-growing fan base.
