Eric Lives Here
A little Luck and Playfulness mixed with Brilliance and Passion. A joke on your best friend right before he or she hits rock bottom and another joke right after to cheer that same friend back up. A punch against the wall, a kiss good night, a high five, and a wave goodbye. In this deep ocean of emotions and realism erupts Eric Lives Here, a Midwestern band oozing the sensibility only college kids can shelter. Before solidifying a six person line-up in the beginning of 2006, ELH began with just two friends: one with nothing but lyrics and a knack for melodies, and one with nothing but an acoustic guitar and a head full of licks dying to be used. After calling upon the help of two other guitar-obsessed friends, a piano man, and a red headed drummer, the full band, known today as Eric Lives Here, began their relentless musical journey. Due to the high response to their original music at their live shows, ELH wasted no time getting into the studio to record their debut EP “Misplaced Mistakes.” Recorded in their home state of Wisconsin (to four members) as well as mixed and mastered at Milwaukee’s DV Productions (Live, Violent Femmes), the band has created what one has called “the most affordable gem on the planet.” Hundreds of other fans have been speaking the same language, as the new disc has been the hottest commodity at ELH’s live shows, which have lately been compared to a cross between Taking Back Sunday and Incubus. However, in a different effort to place the band in a specific genre, others have likened ELH’s sound to that of the Goo Goo Dolls around the time of their second major album. This comparison mainly raised because of the “hard edge” and “soft edge” that ELH covertly manages to mesh together in its music without sacrificing listeners from either side. The Midwest natives (Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota) have dug deep inside themselves to invent “Misplaced Mistakes,” unleashing a style that can “sound like _____” but isn’t categorized into the mass piles like so many. Listen for yourself; maybe “Misplaced Mistakes” can be “the most affordable gem on the planet” for you.
