MindlessMistake's Artist Review for Factory 81
""
Six Years of Pioneering
For me one of the saddest days of 2004 was when I went to the Factory 81 Official Website like I usually would to check whats new and I found out that one of the most talented bands to grace my ears has broken up.
Factory 81 has been reviewed by many critics, most who don't understand the message, the musicianship, and most importantly the creativity. You may hear that Factory 81 is boring, stereotypical rap-metal, or even un-original. Maybe it's because the genre they fit into best is rap-metal, but when you're judging Factory 81, as you should any band, it comes down to good music and bad music. Factory 81 is most definitely good music, and some of the most creative music I've ever heard. A blend of their own rap, raw/melodic guitar riffs, slick bass lines, and drum beats you won't hear most of the drummers you listen to perform. And lets not forget the screaming.
Mankind, Factory 81's first, last, and self-produced full length was the best of its year. Nothing could touch the emotion of Nate's lyrics or the musicianship of the band. The new songs they finished recording and never officially released after Mankind excelled past all of Factory 81's past work. The guys in Factory 81 made it clear through their music that they pioneered a new sound like bands like Metallica and Slayer did before them. It's a shame they never got to prove themselves to some of these hot shot critics; but then again, they didn't have to.
