Giorgio Anselmi
Giorgio Anselmi (Master?) was not only a student of astrology but medicine, astronomy and music. His most famous treatise on music was "De musica" which included information on the harmonies of the heavens, instruments and songs. Anselmi's writings referencing instruments contained ideas on half-tones, and clear insights into the mathematical relations between intervals. He proposed answers to conjectural musical problems and suggested a series of notations utilizing different shapes for different notes. ~ Keith Johnson, All Music Guide
