Comprising vocalist Mika Hankaniemi, guitarist/vocalist Hannu Kujanen, bassist Juha Köykkä, and drummer Juha Pohto, Finland's God Forsaken enjoyed a brief career during the dawn of the death/doom metal movement when their two albums, Dismal Gleams of Desolation (1992) and The Tide Has Turned (1995), drew comparisons to those of better-known acts like Paradise Lost, Katatonia, and My Dying Bride. Unfortunately for them, God Forsaken couldn't quite keep up with these contemporaries, and when internal strife lost them their rhythm section shortly after the sophomore album's release, the band proceeded to slowly fall apart. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, All Music Guide
