Hans Rott
Having studied organ with Bruckner, piano with Landstron, harmony with Graedener and counterpoint and composition with Krenn, Rott became the organist in Vienna for the Piarist church. Though rejected by Brahms, Rott influenced his close friend Mahler as can be discerned from his Symphony in E major. He also composed various vocal works, orchestral settings and a string quartet and quintet. ~ Keith Johnson, All Music Guide
