Formed as a minimalist rock act in 1997, the original lineup of I, Robot consisted of guitarist Pete Bisso and vocalist Matt Grande. The two recorded in Long Island for a while but when Bisso moved to New Paltz, New York the band expanded to include guitarist Eric Talesnick, bassist Tom Carley, and drummer Tim Haley. The band performed around the New York area for a while, replacing Haley with Pat Deriso the next year. But a tour of the US planted the seeds for their break up, officially ending the group in August of 1999 after a Virginia show. ~ Bradley Torreano, All Music Guide
