This album is a live recording from Recital at Toronto St. Andrew's Latvian Lutheran Church by distinguish Latvian artists - violinist Janis BULAVS and organist Larisa BULAVA. Recital was arranged by Toronto Latvian Concert Organization on October 17th 2004.
This CD was recorded and released by The Royal Entertainment under IlgasMusic management. Executive PRoducer Indulis SUNA.
JANIS BULAVS is an outsatnding Latvian violinist, whose professionalism, individuality and artisitc skills rank him among the world's most famous and recognized artists.The greates passion of his life is chamber muisc: classical, romantic and especially contemporary Latvian.
Bulav's repertoire include all the great violin and piano Sonatas from Bach to Brahms. A large number of new compositions have been written by Latvian composers with Bulav's encouragement. He has also performed more than 60 world premieres by Latvian composers - almost all dedicated to the artist.
In addition to his extensive performing carrer, Bulavs also holds
teaching position at the Jazeps Vitols Latvian State Academy of Music.
LARISA BULAVA is a prominent Latvian concert organist with extensive performinng experience in Latvia and abroad.
At young age Larisa became a soloist af Latvian State Philharmony. After graduating from Latvian Academy of Music she continued her education, studyiing with prof. Schetelich at the F. Mendelssohn Music Academy in Leipzig. Bulava also took several master classes with prof. L. Kremer, E. Kolman, H. U. Ericsson and H. van Skolhofen. She has performed at more than 550 recitals in Latvia, troughout Europe, Israel, USA and Canada.
This CD include live recordins of: PRAYER - L. Garuta,
SONATA - M. Einfelde (dedicated to Larisa and Janis BULAVS,
ROMANCE - O. Olsson, CONCERTO in A Minor by V. Vivaldi - J. S. Bach,LITANY - V. Smidbergs, NOCTURNE - A. Grinups, ELEGY - A. Kalnins.
