rockfender's Album Review for Beck-Ola
""
Prime Heavy Rock
Now, Beck-Ola may not be very original (out of seven tracks, two are Elvis cover tunes), but Jeff Beck and his spectacular band sure do put on a show. This album is all heavy rock, no questions asked (with the one exception of "Girl From Mill Valley," a piano instrumental). All of the songs on this album will make you move, especially the super-groovy version of Jailhouse Rock.
The band on this album plays spectacularly on every song: Rod Stewart sings possibly the best he had in his whole career, Ron Wood plays very intense, beautiful base fills, Nicky Hopkins refuses to stop banging wonderfully on his keyboard, and Jeff Beck of course delivers with classic riffs and great solos on every song.
Even though the song selection is not too diverse, if you want a solid rock/blues album, you'll get what you paid for. This is early Led Zeppelin-like stuff with a better singer, guitarist, pianist, and bassist than in Led Zeppelin...you really can't complain. Jeff Beck and his band sure knew how to rock out, and if that's what you're looking for then by all means go and give Beck-Ola a spin.

Guitar Shop pushes the envelope of guitar playing to new levels. Astonishing sounds, amazing grooves, fresh ideas. That cannot be said too often for this genre.
