Johnny Wolfe
Johnny Wolfe was born in Alice and raised in Alvin, TX. Raised on the Bakersfield country of Merle Haggard and Buck Owens, Wolfe had soon learned guitar and rounded up a few pals to form the Sundowners. The band toured the juke joints and roadhouses of the Southwest, and Wolfe used the time to hone his songwriting skills. When the Sundowners eventually dissolved, Wolfe had a stockpile of songs. Together with collaborator Davin James, Wolfe's solo debut began to take shape and, in 2001, Bad Tonight was issued by the independent Bullnettle. The album featured some high-profile guests, including Hank Williams Jr.'s Bama Band, and was lauded for its trad country, rough-and-tumble sound. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide
