Jyve V
Puerto Rican teen pop sensation Jyve V, named after a dance style and the number of its members, became involved in show business while participating in a popular local contest called La Batalla de los Sexos. In 1998, Jasond (born Jasond Omar Calderon Vargas), Rafa (born Rafael Alfredo Calderon Vargas), Alex (born Víctor Alejandro Martínez Nieves), Chelo (born José Oscar Mejias Hernández), and Samuel (born Samuel Omar Padua Pérez) moved to Miami and came in first place after participating in a similar event. The group had the opportunity to get a record deal in February 1999. Emi Latin released Jyve V in 2000, featuring the hit single "Entre Tú y Yo," composed by Alejandro Montalbán. ~ Drago Bonacich, All Music Guide
